A List

Here’s a list of personal projects that I have started, but never completed, over the past two years. I post this not to brag (Oh, look at how many things Myles can almost do!), nor to ask for sympathy (Poor Myles, he’s way to busy to have any fun.), but to attempt to shame myself into getting at least a couple of them done.

So without further ado, the list:

Uh, I think that’s all. Keep in mind I’m not mentioning projects that I haven’t even started yet.

So anyone want to prioritize these for me?

Update (10:26 PM):

Crap. I just thought of four more.

Prioritize for you? What a bizarre notion!

  1. A web site for the Wallace, Grant, and Chunn families: family is important and bringing families together is what the Web is all about. Heh.
  2. Home improvement: you’ve got to live there (and so does your wife) so you might as well make it as nice as you can.
  3. MythTV PVR: you need something to manage your television viewing
  4. Learning stuff from your update: the world does not revolve around computers
  5. Sync server: you could lose your phone sometime
  6. General computing stuff: help thyself
  7. Web sites: least return on time invested

Hope that helps with some perspective.

Web sites: least return on time invested

You obviously haven’t seen my monthly checks from Google for BlogSkins Adsense revenue. And why would you have? My point being that these websites have tremendous return for the time invested. But money isn’t everything.

Thanks for the rest of the comments though!

Hey, Bill! Just noticed you’re a DSFCU web developer. That’s a nice app, good work.

So, can you transfer me some extra money? My account number is XXXXXXX. ;-)

Well, I’m not familiar with any of your web sites besides this one. (Note my beginning comment about the absurdity of prioritizing for someone else). I know that, for me, creating a web site and maintaining offers very little in return and can easily overtake other priorities. Hence, for me, the incentive is to not spawn further sites unless there is a compelling rationale.

As for ePAL over at Desert Schools, we’re hard at work on the next version. It’s ASP.NET and at least a million times better. We’re in final in-house testing and then it goes to a third party for further testing. I’ll let you know as it gets closer to launch.

Hey, neat and organised, perhaps I can come up with a list of things-to-do for myself on my blog ;)
